James Taylor’s Tea Journey
James Taylor, the pioneer of the Ceylon tea industry, arrived in Ceylon in 1852. He first planted tea on 19 acres at Loolcondera Estate in 1867, which as of today still strives to produce quality Sri Lankan tea. He was a dynamic person who was always willing to learn. Despite facing many challenges, he made Ceylon tea famous worldwide. Our teas carry his legacy, promising you a taste of history and quality in every cup.
Our Tea Story
Our experience in the Tea Plantation Industry dates back to British Colonial Era. Being tea growers for more than three generations, our family has passed down our heritage from generation to generation, infusing the essence of tradition and pride into providing you with quality tea.
Day 01
Option A
Airport – Colombo (Jetwing Hotels/ Pegasus Reef Hotel) (Approx. 40 Minutes Drive)
Arrival to Sri Lanka and check into hotel and relax.
Option B
Airport – Kingdom Secret – Kiriella (Ratnapura) (Approx. 01 1/2 Hours Drive)
Meet & greet on arrival and transfer to Kiriella (Ratnapura)
Ratnapura (“City of Gems”) is the name of the provincial capital of Sabaragamuwa Province in Sri Lanka. Some say the modern name is derived from the Portuguese name Rapadura for jaggery, the palm candy produced traditionally in this region, but the more common explanation in Sri Lanka is that it comes from the Sinhala “ratna” meaning gems and “pura” meaning city. Located some 101 km south east of Colombo, it is the center of a long-established industry of precious stone mining including rubies, sapphires, and other gems. Apart from gem mining, the town is known for tea. Tea grown in this region is called low-country tea. There is a well-established tourism industry in Ratnapura. Sinharaja Forest Reserve, Many beautiful water falls, Saman devalaya, and Adam’s Peak are especially popular among tourists.

Day 02
Authentic Tea Experience
After breakfast, engage with an authentic tea experience and introduce a documentary, history of tea estate.
Your visit will include the chance for an authentic experience plucking tea in the plantation. Known as the best tea in the World, taste factory fresh Ceylon Tea as part of your visit.
Lunch at the Hotel.
Rest of the day leisure at the Hotel OR Optional activities can be arrange. Evening “Save the plant and Plant a tree Campaign”

Day 03
Kingdom Secret – Kiriella – Ceciliyan Tea Factory, Kalawana and Estate Visit (Approx. 2 Hours Drive)
After Breakfast at the hotel proceed to Emeralds Hill Tea Estate in Kalawana.
Welcome drink and factory visit at Ceciliyan Tea Factory , the largest by produced Tea in year 2023.
Tea Factory visit that enables you to see, smell, taste and touch the Tea every stage of production process and get an understanding of why certain teas taste as they do. You will also get an opportunity to enjoy a cup of unique Ceylon tea.
Traditional lunch at the tea Emerald Hill Tea Estate.
Introduction to tea, from the Tea nursery which produces valuable Tea plans for the plantations and the Estates.
Evening Private Tea testing experience. An interactive and guided experience where guests will taste and learn to identify (and appreciate!) the unique flavor profiles that give different teas their distinction. Compared to the complimentary Tea Experience at the Tea factory – which is a general overview of the history of tea and its product – the Private Tea Tasting is a far more detailed, immersive and intimate experience.
Back to Hotel, BBQ night dinner & Overnight stay at Kingdom Secret Kiriella.
Day 4
After breakfast at the hotel, visit tea estate & cinnamon plantation. Lunch at the Hotel.
Excursion to the closest Waterfall and trekking to Habragala and Kiriella falls
After lunch, engage in Tree Planting Campaign. Special tree planting program –“Super food “
OPTIONAL AYURVEDA
Ayurveda is a holistic system which regards illness as the result of a derangement in a person’s basic structure make up. The Ayurvedic system holds that all bodies are composed of varied combination of five basic elements – ether, air, fire, water, and earth. Each body is governed by three doshas or life forces: pitta (fire and water), kapha (water and earth) and vata (air and earth). Illness is seen as an imbalance of these influences, and specific diseases are considered symptoms of more influential problems. Ayurvedic treatment aims to rectify such imbalances and Ayurveda doctors will typically examine the whole of a patient’s lifestyle, habits, diet and emotional proclivities in order to find the roots of a disease. Treatment often consists of encouraging a balanced lifestyle as much as administering specific therapies.

Day 5
Ratnapura City Tour
After breakfast, do a City tour of Ratnapura
Visits to Saman Devalaya
Maha Saman Devalaya or the Great Saman Temple (also called Sumana Saman Devalaya) is a shrine dedicated to deity Saman, situated at Ratnapura,Sri Lanka who is the presiding deity of
the Sri Pada Mountain (Adam’s Peak) which is also called Samanthakuta meaning the mountain of Saman which is believed to have the left foot impression of Buddha which he kept in his visit to Sri Lanka.
Considered as one of the guardian gods of Sri Lanka, Deity Saman is deeply venerated in the region of Rathnapura and related areas in the province of Sabaragamuwa of Sri Lanka, he is recorded to have been a district administrator of the region contemporary to Buddha who he met on the former’s visit to Sri Lanka.
According to the Mahavamsa the chronicle of ancient Sri Lanka, it is mentioned that the Administrator Saman, attained the first level of enlightenment Sotapanna at the end of the sermon of Buddha. After the demise of Saman, the administrator of Dewa (people) he has started to be venerated as a God or a deity.
Also, visit to Katugas Ella Water Fall
The beautiful Katugas Ella waterfall is a stunning getaway for nature lovers and is situated in the Ratnapura district. The picturesque 6 meters fall is a visual treat and a perfect spot for picnics and road trips with friends and family. Hidden away from the main road, you need to follow a small stream to reach the spot of the falls. Once you reach, you can enjoy the sound of the falls and the slight chill in the air. For people who love scenic beauty and would like to spend a few minutes of peace and serenity, this place is a paradise.
